BARD DAYS WILL BE BACK SUMMER 2012

"BARD DAYS"
Shakespeare Camp for Youth

JULY 2012

Though the works of William Shakespeare are over 400 years old, local youth still feel that “Shakespeare rocks!” during the Montana Shakespeare Company’s annual camp, Bard Days.

Back by popular demand, the Montana Shakespeare Company presents its weeklong, user-friendly camp devoted to learning about the words and world of William Shakespeare.

Bard Days celebrates the words and world of William Shakespeare through performance, cultural and literary activities. Students have opportunities to perform scenes from some of theatre’s greatest masterpieces, but also actively explore the Elizabethan world in a kid friendly atmosphere by dueling with insults, scavenger hunts, Elizabethan costume relays and battling in the hugely popular stage combat, taught by MSC’s artistic director, Kim DeLong.

Coursework includes, among others:
•The Language of the Bard,
•Stage Combat,
•Elizabethan Games & Dance
•Searching for Shakespeare Scavenger Hunt

Afternoons are devoted to exploring and performing Shakespeare's texts with stage speech, acting and an applied techniques (rehearsal) class.

The program concludes Friday night, with a shared evening of works at "A Bard Days Night." on July 30.

Bard Days is held at Performance Square on Helena's downtown walking mall.
